Come in from the Cold; An evening of music and words.

It can seem a cold and hostile place out there these days, politically, socially and literally! So, come and find a place of warmth and belonging for an evening that will celebrate some of the best up and coming musicians in the UK and Scotland interspersed with poetry and storytelling.

Based loosely on the theme of belonging, the event will feature as its headline act, Luke James Williams.

In November 2018, Luke released his debut EP Drove. The first single, 'Rabbit Hole', received airplay on BBC6 Music, Amazing Radio and BBC Introducing, whilst other cuts from the EP have been featured and played by Folk Radio UK and Hype Machine. Second single 'Still In Bed' has received huge support from BBC6 Music DJ Tom Robinson, who chose it as one of his 6Music Recommends Tracks of 2019. It has subsequently been played across the station by Tom Ravenscroft, Lauren Laverne and Steve Lamacq. The song has also attracted a large listenership on Spotify with over 58,000 streams on the platform. Luke has received rave reviews for his engaging and emotive live performances and has supported artists such as Stu Larsen, Kirsty Merryn, Mark Chadwick (Levellers), The Little Unsaid and Megson. Drawing influences from the likes of Sufjan Stevens, Nick Drake and PJ Harvey, Williams paints pictures with words and sings them in his own distinctly British voice.

Supporting Luke will be Morven Warren-McArdle. Originating in East Linton, Morven is an extraordinarily talented up and coming musician and singer songwriter whose melancholic melodies are reminiscent of Gabrielle Aplin, Pheobe Bridgers and folk musicians Adam Holmes and Rachel Sermanni. She recently released her debut single 'Amsterdam' and has just moved to Glasgow to continue her musical education at the Conservatoire of Scotland. This classical background gives her a unique, genre-defying sound.

Comparing the evening will be Chris Yule who will be linking the performances with a story in 3 parts and alongside these main acts the evening will be peppered with other creative offerings of music and poetry from surprise guests.

This event was inspired because a local woman with a chronic illness contacted Luke because she was too unwell to get to any of the venues Luke was playing in England and in order to make it possible for her to attend a live gig, he agreed to come to somewhere she could see him.

Because of this kind gesture this event is also hoping to gift some further tickets to people who face barriers to seeing live music through either disability, sickness or limited finances and to give some tickets to young people with an interest in music to help inspire them. If people would like to help support this event to be able to provide these gifts to other's, please consider buying a gift ticket for someone. They will then be distributed according to need by the organisers.

All profits will be given to the musicians and performers. The event is being organised and run by volunteers and the performers themselves.

Please note that is no bar at the venue so you are kindly invited to bring your own refreshments.
