Genre : Music - General

Description

Michael Chapman first became known on the London and Cornish folk circuits in 1966. Playing a blend of atmospheric and autobiographical material he established a reputation for intensity and innovation.

In 1969 he signed to EMI's Harvest label & recorded a quartet of classic albums including Fully Qualified Survivor, Rainmaker, Window and Wrecked Again. These first four album, all produced by Gus Dudgeon defined the melancholic observer role Michael was to make his own, mixing intricate guitar instrumentals with a full band sound and paving the way for production values that would soon surface in the music of David Bowie and Elton John.

Michael Chapman is part of a continuing musical lineage of guitar players that includes the likes of Ralph McTell, John Martyn, Davey Graham & Bert Jansch, and at 79 years is somewhat remarkably still on the road.
