I saw Chris Cleverley at Costa del Folk last year and was impressed by his sensitive songs and beautiful guitar arrangements. His set was varied and interesting. He touches on raw subject matter in a thoughtful, accessible way and I thoroughly enjoyed his music. I don't book that many men with guitars, although I could. They have to be special. Chris Cleverly is.
Maybe it is Chris Cleverley's eternally restless, whirring chasm of a mind that leads him to constantly contort and re-imagine the genre of 21st Century Alt-folk music with every new release. With a visceral lyrical style, akin to the American greats Elliott Smith and Paul Simon, Chris shines a light on diverse, arresting themes from deteriorating anxious minds, via damaging gender constructs, to mystical tales of the occult. With 'Haunting' lyricism (The Sunday Times) and an 'Impressive' guitar technique (The Telegraph), it is no wonder Folk Radio UK have described him as 'one of the most vital voices of today's folk generation'.
This will have a limited audience, socially distanced with a screen between them and the performers. The first hour will be live streamed and the final part of the concert will be exclusive to the live audience. There will be a served bar and a one way system.
