Thomas Truax - New Music Machines tour 2020
"Endlessly inventive and creativeA show not to be missed! -Oxford Times
Merging a fevered imagination and solid songwriting with a mad scientist's brain for weird gadgets, American singer Thomas Truax is a true one-off.
UNCUT magazine says "Truax is shaping up nicely as one of the great rock eccentrics" while Splendid magazine called him "one of the five or ten best singer/songwriters in the world that you've never heard of...an exceptional talent."
He is also known for his unique self-made instruments including a motorized drum machine made of bike wheels called 'Mother Superior' and a souped up Gramophone called 'The Hornicator'
After riding the album/tour/album/tour cycle perpetually over nearly two decades with these 'band mates', Thomas decided it was due time to dedicate himself to expanding the menagerie with some new musical contraptions.
Bolstered by his Bandcamp supporters and some Arts Council England funding, he devoted much of last year to dreaming up and building these special new music making machines which, along with his familiar friends, will make their first live appearance on this tour.
Notable Truax supporters and collaborators include Jarvis Cocker, Duke Special, Richard Hawley, Amanda Palmer, Brian Viglione (of the Dresden Dolls/Violent Femmes), Budgie (of Siouxsie and the Banshees) and the late author Terry Pratchett.
Operating from the shadowy space between the glass-blown ambience of ('Amelie' composer) Yann Tiersen and 'What's he Building In There?' era Tom Waits, musician/inventor Thomas Truax is something of a visio
nary.

The Lexington is a classic London boozer turned lounge bar, with a hint of Kentucky charm and lashings of rock & roll excess. Enjoy award winning food served up with our favourite American craft beers or just lounge around in our baroque mezzanine exploring the best bourbon selection in London. If you like it a little bit louder, head upstairs for the latest and greatest bands in our live venue. Then dance the night away with our family of music loving DJs, playing everything from 20s jazz to the newest indie through the sea of counter-cultural sounds into the wee small hours.
The Lexington is an early Victorian building and as such is not easily accessible for anyone with limited mobility. While the main bar is on the ground floor and accessible without steps the music venue is up a flight of stairs. We’re happy to help with access where possible.
