Robert Mee, of the Heanor Local History Society, looks at the growth of the industrial village of Langley Mill, along with its eventual decline. Due to its coal deposits, the Erewash Valley developed an enviable transport infrastructure which was used by entrepreneurs to build a variety of manufacturing industries in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
