Life in Medieval Derbyshire

Arkwright Society Evening Talk

7.00pm Cheese & Wine: 7.30pm Talk starts

Derby's rich history did not start with the industrial revolution. Before the factories, society was largely agricultural. The Vikings called it Dj?ra-b?, meaning the Village of the Deer, whilst the Brythonic name for the River Derwent - Derventio - means "valley thick with oaks". Local historian Rob Hall will discuss what life was like in this rural society for the men and women of the period, whilst looking at the unique local customs they engaged in.

Cost: £8. Your ticket includes cheese and wine.
