Wonderful Things - Findings from the Archive of WW Winter Ltd, Photographers of Derby
Arkwright Society Evening Talk
7.00pm Cheese & Wine: 7.30pm Talk starts
Jane Middleton-Smith will talk about some of the recent discoveries from amongst the many thousands of glass plate negatives which remain in the business, which can trace its origins back to 1852, the very beginning of commercial photography. Plates found so far have included German POW's from the First World War, industry and commerce in Derby during the 1920's and 30's and Victorian and Edwardian portraits. Stories emerge from each and every one as well as from the detailed research that is being undertaken into the company history.
