From the earliest days of her career, when she went on the road opening for blues legend Muddy Waters, to her current status as one of the most highly respected originators of country rock, Katy Moffatt has distinguished herself as one of the most literate and eclectic artists to fall under the nebulous heading of singer-songwriter. The younger sister of singer-songwriter Hugh Moffatt, Katy has never broken through to the country mainstream yet she explores the complexities of modern life and relationships with grace and subtlety usually associated with such better known artists as Nanci Griffith and Lucinda Williams. She has earned a substantial cult following among roots-music fans and plenty of critical respect for her blend of country, folk, rock, pop, and blues. She has also co-written dozens of songs with Tom Russell including "Walking On The Moon", "Hank and Audrey" and "Sparrow of Swansea"
"Folk, Country, Blues, Rock ... Roots? She erases the boundaries. They call the music "Americana" now. Well close your eyes and listen to The Voice" Tom Russell
