Singer-songwriter Steve Forbert had his first major hit back in 1979. Thirty-plus years later, he's still writing acclaimed songs having released 14 studio albums, including a Grammy-nominated tribute to Mississippi legend, Jimmie Rodgers. He has seen his songs performed by the likes of Keith Urban, Rosanne Cash and Marty Stuart, been inducted into the Mississippi Hall of Fame - and even appeared opposite Cyndi Lauper in her music video for Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!

Forbert's debut album, Alive On Arrival, showcased his unique blend of traditional American roots and pop stylings and became one of the year's most acclaimed records. His second , Jackrabbit Slim, featured the number 11 Billboard hit Romeo's Tune - which still gets regular airplay on BBC Radio 2. Forbert's intimate verbal imagery, paired with a roots-rocking musical approach, struck a chord with millions of people during the transitional period between '70s folk-rock and '80s New Wave.

With his brash-yet-sensitive take on songwriting, Forbert's unaffected delivery leads to regular sell out shows all over the world. His most recent album Over With You was critically well received. 'That album is very personal,' Forbert says. 'The songs are about what people feel in deep relationships ? mainly love and friction.' After his 2015 release of studio demos and live recordings, A Safe Past Tense, comes a BRAND NEW studio album Flying at Night!

Forbert is one of the few artists who can mesmerize a crowd with nothing but a distinctive voice, an acoustic guitar and his trusty harmonica slung around his neck, letting the purity of his music stand on its own.

By day our Cafe serves delicious home-cooked food, Fairly Traded coffee & tea and homemade cakes & pastries. All with a nod to local and ethical sourcing. We cater for Vegetarians, Vegans and dietary issues, just ask if you need anything not catered for on our menus. We also have a Delicatessen serving our own home-cooked food daily.

On Sunday to Thursday evenings we host the best acoustic music in the City, specialising in Folk, Roots and Americana.
