Description

Brighton Noise are proud as punch to host the Brighton leg of Grand Guru and Mullholland's April 2020 tour. Come and lap up some experimental post-rock goodness with a side of electronica...

MULLHOLLAND (Mullholland)

Mullholland are an experimental rock duo based in Brighton, consisting of Rory Mitchell and Mikey Phillips.
The duo formed spring 2012 in Jersey, crafting explorative and explosive instrumental music, amalgamating sounds from post-rock, punk, math, ambient, and psychedelic music.
The first studio album Soma Anthem saw release in February 2015, followed by their second album The Same Yesterday Today Forever, released November 2016.
Both albums were self-released under the bands Come to Brazil label, which also releases their solo work and other artists music.
Mullholland are planning tours for 2020, and are working on their third studio album.

MERLIN TONTO (Merlin Tonto)

Formed in 2013, Merlin Tonto (Owen Thomas (electronics), Miles Boyd (bass) and Steffan Eliades (drums) combine a patient, ever building, subliminal connection in the rhythm section with Owen's virtuoso manipulation of electronics and visual interpretations of the band's otherwordly sounds. Recalling at various times Factory Floor, ESG and Leftfield. It's all done in their idiosyncratic way, the music is never in a hurry to get anywhere, their restraint meaning the joy is as much in the journey as the destination.

Their second EP - Baotou, released on Brighton's Love Thy Neighbour label, continues this journey with the acid sounds of 'Forest Primeval' to the ambient washes of the stunning 'Shimmering Mist'.

GRAND GURU (Grand Guru)

'I fucking love Grand Guru. I love him to no end. That's probably why I wished he'd die so many times. The guy is a paranoid crybaby with an ego the size of Texas but I'd go everywhere with him. He's ugly A.F. but he's a G.O.D. My friends can't get why I always end up going back to him even though I tried many times to run away from him. I just can't get enough of him, I know Grand Guru is right, I know Grand Guru is the answer. I hardly can listen to his music without throwing up in disgust, but I know all the words and enjoy every power chord. It's the worst shit ever. Alright, it's all electric guitars, drum machines and keyboards. Ok, now, just try to picture Suicide jamming with the Beastie Boys and all together trying to cover Elvis. None of them really know how to properly play so they just play very loud to cover how shit they are. Ok, you get it. That would sound fucking weird, right? And why the fuck would you do that anyway? Ok, still, I love it. I fucking love Grand Guru. I'm ashamed of myself for adoring him so much but he's all I have. I'll follow him until he dies. I'll die when he dies. Because without him, I'm nobody.' T.R.M.S.
