Description
Music - Folk/blues/world
Now and again, magic things happen. Back in 2015, Ivor Novello Award nominated songwriter Boo Hewerdine produced the renowned Scottish musician Findlay Napier?s album, VIP, and an ongoing musical partnership was born. A couple of years later, a chance meeting between Hewerdine and top guitarist Brooks Williams led to their popular ?State Of The Union? duo project ? contemporary songs wrapped up in old-time country blues. When the COVID pandemic hit, the three musicians met up again in the ?virtual world? and their broadcast gig (when they were joined by Kris Drever) was one of the best lockdown shows around.
For this exclusive and intimate concert, Boo, Findlay and Brooks re-create their lockdown performance live ? a roots supergroup in the making.
Findlay Napier is one of the finest songwriters and storytellers on the contemporary Scottish music scene, director of the Glasgow Songwriting Festival and host of Celtic Connections Late Night Sessions.
"Coming on like a Caledonian Loudon Wainwright ..." Acoustic Magazine (Glasgow)
"He's good and he's really funny too! He's got that classic brilliant banter with the audience? Edith Bowman BBC
Boo Hewerdine is one of the best (and busiest) songwriter performers in the business, who?s produced, written and performed with musicians as diverse as K D Lang, Chris Difford (Squeeze), Eddi Reader (Fairground Attraction), Richard Thompson Karine Polwart and Kris Drever.
?One of the greatest songwriter performers in the business and a unique talent?. Ian Cripps, Atlantic Records
Brooks Williams first played in the clubs and bars in Boston USA and is now ranked in the Top 100 Acoustic Guitarists. He?s a skilled finger-picker and slide guitarist, with a clear, pure voice that earned him a nomination for Best Male Vocalist by Spiral Earth. Over the years, he?s performed alongside Taj Mahal, Little Feat, Maria Muldaur, Shawn Colvin and Leo Kottke, to name but a few.
?Setting new standards and a fresh direction for the blues? Blues In Britain
"...a beautiful voice you just melt into? AmericanaUK
