Rab Noakes was a key member and songwriter with Lindisfarne (fan favourites ?Turn a deaf ear? and ?Together forever? are his songs). He played in Gerry Rafferty?s band, Stealer?s Wheel, worked with Barbara Dickson and has since made over twenty solo albums, as well as being a senior producer for BBC Radio Scotland. Rab?s first fully-professional engagements were as far back as 1967! Over 50 years and more than 20 albums later he remains a vital, popular, prolific and acclaimed songwriter and performer.
Brooks Williams first played in the clubs and bars in Boston USA and is now ranked in the Top 100 Acoustic Guitarists. He?s a skilled finger-picker and slide guitarist, with a clear, pure voice that earned him a nomination for Best Male Vocalist by Spiral Earth. Over the years, he?s performed alongside Taj Mahal, Little Feat, Maria Muldaur, Shawn Colvin and Leo Kottke, to name but a few.
The Williams-Noakes collaboration is fuelled by a shared passion for acoustic roots rock, hook-laden songwriter pop, and folky Americana. They met in Glasgow in 2018 when Rab sang backing vocals on Brooks? Lucky Star recording. But their connection goes back nearly 30 years. At the very beginning of Williams? career, he began or ended every show with a song called Dublin Take Me. A Rab Noakes song, as it turns out, that Williams learned from a cassette a friend brought back to America from a holiday in Scotland.
