The Country Soul Sessions would like to invite you to a special evening of R&B, Jazz, Doo Wop, Rock 'N' Roll and of course some Country Soul ?? ? ? ? ?

We are delighted that 'El Toro' recording artist Aisha Khan and her Rajahs will be returning to the Country Soul for our August ?Special". With influences ranging from Jazz, Blues, Swing, Rhythm & Blues, Doo Wop and Rock 'N' Roll it's fair to say that Ms Khan can sing pretty much sing anything she has a mind to. Backed by a crack band of top musicians Aisha is in equal parts sultry Jazz chanteuse and Rhythm and Blues 'belter'. Expect to hear fine original material mixed with memorable covers all wrapt up in a bygone era of glamour and sophistication. For this Session Aisha and her great band will be performing two live sets with a break in between. Don't miss them.

*Please note that in accordance with The Spice Of Life's safety guidance (subject to a possible change in restrictions in June) there will be no standing and unfortunately no dancing for the time being at the Country Soul. Be prepared to use hand sanitiser on arrival, and on leaving and returning to the room and to maintain social distancing where possible. Please remember to wear facials coverings, masks or bandanas when not seated.

Description

A pub and music bar on the perimeter of Cambridge Circus, at the corner of Romilly Street and Moor Street. First licensed in 1686 as the George, the current building dates from 1898 and the current name from 1986. (One of the old names, Cantons, can be seen being held by one of the gargoyles on the top of the building).

Famous in the 1960s and 70s for folk music and then punk, latterly it has become a jazz venue and home to SpiceJazz club. Up to 5 real ales from the McMullen range on offer and free admission to the main bar but you may have to pay for some music gigs in the basement.

Upstairs at the Spice is for drinks, eats and good times. Enjoy Great British classics with special seasonal dishes prepared daily by our chefs.
