2016?s BBC Young Jazz Musician of the year, trumpeter Alex Ridout has fast established herself as one of London?s most exciting improvisers, making waves on the jazz scene since completing her studies at the prestigious Royal Academy of Music. Winner of the British Jazz Awards 2018 ?Rising Star? category, and noted in Jazzwise magazine as one to watch, we hugely look forward to welcoming Ridout and her band to The Oxford for an evening of originals and lesser known selections from the great American songbook.
? We were enchanted by Alexandra?s presence as a musician, her sound, but I think most importantly there was a relationship with the blues and swinging that sounds important in her playing? ? Julian Joseph, Chair of the jury of the BBC Young Musician Jazz Award 2016.
We hugely look forward to welcoming you back to our beautiful listening room upstairs at The Oxford Tavern, and in order to do so safely, we will be implementing the following changes to our system to make the club as Covid-safe as we can:
? To begin with we will be operating at a reduced capacity, with 15 tickets available in advance (via our website), and 15 available on the door. We strongly recommend booking in advance to guarantee entry.
? We ask that you wear a mask when moving around the room, and use the hand sanitizer provided upon entry.
? There will be no standing at gigs, everyone who has a ticket will be allocated a seat.
? We ask that you sign in downstairs at the pub for the NHS Test and Trace using the NHS Covid app (or, manually if you do not have a smartphone).
