KIRAN LEONARD
A welcome return to great friend of the CD&G crew, the prodigious polymath, Kiran Leonard. Last seen in these parts as half of the willfully haphazard duo Or Sobre Blau, Kiran has spent the period since his last solo record, 2018?s Western Culture, reappraising his songwriting method, moving from the abstruse to the enigmatic. The result is a staggeringly ambitious double album, Trespass On Foot, that makes enormous demands on the listener, and pays off in the greatest possible way for those intrepid enough to seek its sublime rewards. Whilst previous works have focused on fearless complexity and semi-obscured specificity the new record is a sprawling collection of metaphorical drone-songs, sparse chime-ballads, and harmonically rich slowcore ruminations. A highly emotionally fluent set of homeward perambulations, Trespass On Foot is his most abstract and also most essential piece of work to date. Come see how it plays out on the stage?

ABLE NOISE
The fine folks behind GLARC (the Greater Lanarkshire Auricular Research Council) have unearthed another delicious nugget, following on from their previous finds including Bamya, Horse Whisperer and Still House Plants. The cryptically-named Able Noise are a baritone guitar and drums duo inconveniently based based between The Hague, and Athens. Originally a strictly live-only concern, last year they committed a collection of vehemently non-rock synecdoches to tape, cramming in atypical technique, loops and fragments of external sounds, and ghosts of songs past. Still they retain a commitment to attendant performance, taking pre-existing pieces and reshaping them in the context of the space to create something remorselessly new with each appearance.
