Matt Skelton ? drums
Alex Garnett ? saxophones
Will Barry ? piano
Jeremy Brown ? double bass
Critically acclaimed drummer and band-leader Matt Skelton writes?
?Matt Skelton is known amongst friends and students for his quite liking of Mel Lewis? music and playing.
He has assembled a quartet of talented pals to celebrate the music of Thad Jones, Mel?s co leader, trumpeter, composer and arranger of yore.
Expect to hear examples of Thad?s genius translated from original jazz orchestra settings to quartet alongside compositions associated with the extraordinary legacy of Thad & Mel?s contribution to 20th century jazz and their sustaining, undiminished influence.
Featured in Skelton?s T.J.Q are Alex Garnett, on tenor (and hopefully baritone) saxophones. The lesser know musical family connection of cousins Jeremy Brown (double bass), and Will Barry, (piano) complete this swinging and joyous combo.?
