Description

Unfortunately under medical advice Peter Case has had to cancel his UK tour. BUT the show must go on with Sid Griffin! Also on the bill is Cole Porters bassman Andrew Staffords new outfit The Seagrass Band. Both Sid and Seagrass will do their own sets and a set together.

SID GRIFFIN led indie rock heroes the Long Ryders, credited by many as the founders of alt-country, and bluegrass outfit the Coal Porters. In January 2022 the Long Ryders received the AMA (Americana Music Association) UK Award for International Trailblazer.
Sid is a writer, broadcaster and producer. His production credits include Lindisfarne?s 1998 album ?Here Comes the Neighbourhood?. He wrote acclaimed Bob Dylan book ?Million Dollar Bash? and penned the liner notes for the box set of the Basement Tapes. He has released four solo albums, the latest ?The Trick is to Breathe? was described as ?a high-water mark in a career which has always celebrated traditional American music with boundless eloquence and enthusiasm?.
?His intimate acoustic shows are consistently memorable? The Sunday Times
?Sid Griffin was playing Americana years before the term was invented and that pioneer spirit shines on??
Billy Bragg
?A roots music Renaissance man??
Whispering Bob Harris

To open the show, shit-kicking bluegrass from Brighton five-piece THE SEAGRASS BAND, formed by Coal Porters?
double-bassist Andrew Stafford. Includes ex-members of the Blue Aeroplanes, Jazz Butcher. Featuring Nashville session player Paul Bishop, described by Mojo magazine as the Eddie Van-Halen
of the banjo, whose music has been used on Heartbeat, Gene Simmons? Family Jewels, West Wing, the Drew Carey Show and Beverly Hills 90210. The Seagrass Band will join Sid Griffin at the end of his set for some rabble-rousing renditions of Coal Porters? and Long Ryders? numbers.
