Sam Carelse/Jason Henson Quintet celebrates Ella & Diane with Basie's Band!
Singer Sam Carelse will be teaming up with long-standing partner, guitarist Jason Henson to pay tribute to arrangements from two Basie vocal records: The revered 1963 studio album 'Ella and Basie!' (later reissued as 'On The Sunny Side Of The Street'), featuring arrangements by Quincy Jones and Benny Carter, as well as the award-winning live album 'Diane Schuur & the Count Basie Orchestra' (1987), featuring arrangements by Frank Foster, who led Basie's Orchestra after the death of Count Basie himself. This album features the last performance of guitarist Freddie Green, whose guitar playing is often cited as the secret sauce behind Basie's hard-swinging sound. Also featuring Chris Coull (trumpet), tba (bass), and Angus Bishop (drums), this evening will be unmissable for fans of swing!
