Tens of thousands of concert visitors per year, standing ovations, and a fan cult on the level of a rock star?s ? welcome to Café del Mundo, Germany?s hottest Flamenco guitarists. Yes, you?ve read correctly: Germany?s hottest Flamenco guitarists. This is unusual, this is unique, this is the pure essence of guitar, and a long-awaited expansion of an instrument that up until now has only been known in relation to traditional music. Guitarists Jan Pascal and Alexander Kilian are as opposite as fire and ice ? and yet, this is exactly what makes them a world-class music act. Be truly amazed at the incredible musical diversity of two acoustic guitars, with a repertoire that spins a fine thread between classical and jazz, techno and world music.
Ben Smith and Jimmy Brewer met on Joan Armatrading's 2015 tour. They soon realised that their styles and voices complemented each other perfectly and started playing together after supporting Joan before a thousand-strong crowd.
Since then, they have performed all over the UK, notably as the support act to 10cc and Ralph McTell, at Fairport?s Cropredy Convention, the Cambridge Folk Festival, the UK Americana Music Association Showcases, and at the AmericanaFest in Nashville. Blended together, Ben and Jimmy's voices and guitar virtuosity sound made for each other, soaring and guiding their music through their finely crafted, self-penned songs. Upholding the highest standard in harmony-drenched cool-vibes, Smith & Brewer's intimate, acoustic performances are not to be missed.
he Plough in Shepreth is a village pub with big ideas. After being closed completely for almost four years, the pub underwent an extensive transformation under its new owners, before re-opening its doors on Saturday 5th July 2014.
Here at The Plough, we aim to provide a friendly and welcoming atmosphere whilst offering a variety of services to be enjoyed by both the local community and visitors from the wider surrounding area.
The “Traditional Village Pub” plays an important part in our design and mentality, yet we also recognise that the licensed trade faces many challenges in the current economic climate. Therefore The Plough offers much more than might be considered usual in a village pub. “Traditional Plus” is a phrase we find ourselves returning to frequently, and probably best sums up our overall outlook.
The Plough is a five-minute walk from Shepreth Railway Station, which itself is just a ten-minute train journey from Cambridge.
