Genre : Music - Folk/blues/world

Description

terrace cred. (with the unparalleled aid of The Long Haul) presents:
A return to The Prince Albert for this local band, making headway nationally and gathering deserved acclaim for their mix of classic Country with a distinctive Western Swing - all part of their approach to 'Americana'. Live, they're a swingin', twangin' combo, guaranteed to get you a'tappin 'n' a'hollerin'...

Simon, Francois, Duncan, James and Scott launched their delayed third album '21st Century Blues' here at The Prince Albert .11 original songs, combining the timeless sound of pedal-steel guitar, Fender Telecaster and upright bass with a sharp lyrical take on different aspects of life in the 21st century. They've got a video, recently filmed at legendary BBC presenter Bob Harris?s Under the Apple Tree studio to accompany the release.

?An excellent band. I?m really enjoying these songs? Bob Harris, BBC Radio 2
?Top-notch songwriting and superb playing. This is high-quality modern-day country? American Roots UK

'There's a stellar, retro dance-hall feel to the Long Haul ? fabulous, catchy Americana? Three Chords and the Truth
Special guest tonight:
Ags Connolly brings a different approach to the music - a traditional Country artist from Oxfordshire. The heart of England has produced an artist genuinely considered to be one of the best country singer-songwriters ever to emerge from the UK. And a thoroughly fine chap he is, too. We're very pleased to bring Ags back into Brighton after a magnificent set at The Greys just before lockdown. He's built a firm reputation through live performance from club gigs to large festivals and Ags has been heaped with praise from the start.
His most distinctive voice inhabits his songs, delivered like Waylon or Willie with a mighty, distinctive presence. You'll be bowled over by the show and the man himself.
Three albums into a touring career, Ags has received the 'Album of the Month' by Country Music People magazine for each release.
'Modern day traditionalism of the very, very best kind' Bob Harris, Radio 2
'Deep and emotive vocals' Billboard
'A national treasure' Country Music People.

What more is to be said? Ags is not slick new-country, nor quirky alt-roots but fits magnificently into the tradition. Ags Connolly presents pure country in a raw powerful, emotional show as an uncompromising country traditionalist. In an era when the pop and rock incarnations of country music are enjoying a surge of popularity in the UK, Ags continues to defend the last outpost of the genres traditional roots.
