Grimm Grimm + Naima Karlsson + Adriana Camacho + Sarmen Almond Event Title Pic

Description

Grimm Grimm
London-based singer-songwriter experimentalist Koichi Yamanoha has been operating under the alias of Grimm Grimm since 2013. The project is an outlet for his fragile, haunted, otherworldly forays into baroque folk, uneasy easy listening, futurist lyricism, and electroacoustic oddities with foggy melancholia.

Adriana Camacho & Naima Karlsson duo + guest Sarmen Almond

Naima Karlsson
Naima Karlsson is a multi-disciplinary artist and musician based in London and Sweden. Her practice interweaves sonic and visual forms into a dialogue led by interest in repetition, improvisation, and relationships between language, symbol, image, and sound. Her main instrument is the piano, as well as percussion, vibraphone, organ, and other keyboards. Naima is part of the duo Exotic Sin with Kenichi Iwasa, she is a manager of the Estate of Moki Cherry and Cherry archives, and is currently working and studying with Mexican pianist, Ana Ruiz.

Adriana Camacho
Adriana Camacho is a musician and filmmaker from Mexico and is a central figure in the improvised music scene in Mexico City. She plays double bass, as well as vocals, flutes, and percussion, combined with loop effects. Adriana's solo project is called LOOPE and is in numerous groups such as Sesión Libre Trio, Los Verdaderos Subterráneos, Ensamble Kóryma, and Cihuatl. She also organizes the legendary Radio Niágara, a live transmission event of improvisations in music, poetry and performance art, with her partner the Mexican artist Antonio Gritón, from their home in Mexico City.

Naima & Adriana have performed multiple times in Mexico City as a duo combining double bass, keyboard, and percussion with electronic loops. They have also played together in ensembles with legendary Mexican improvisers such as Ana Ruiz, and Germán Bringas. Both Adriana Camacho and Sarmen Almond are active musicians in the improvised music scene in Mexico City, rarely performing in London.

Sarmen Almond
Mexican musician and voice performer from Mexico. Intermedia artist and voice teacher trained in the Roy Hart tradition. Sarmen uses the voice and its relationship with electronic media to create compositions and decomposition of the personality on stage. She?s constantly chasing a quest of the infinite vocal possibilities that the human body utters as an instrument as well as the reflection of these sounds in physical and imaginary spaces. Almond makes use of resources of free improvisation, extended vocal techniques, programming, and bodywork.
