Join textile artist and colourist Abeer Kayani to explore Islamic geometric patterns using a compass, watercolours and ink. Under Abeer's guidance you will construct, evaluate and experiment with designs. As a Muslim artist, Abeer will share her knowledge on the historic use of captivating colours from which you will develop a unique response using watercolours to create an artwork on paper. All materials provided, this workshop is suitable for all levels of ability and experience and will finish at approximately 4.30pm.
About the artist: Abeer is an emerging award-winning textile artist who crafts hand-made silk pieces through experimental dyeing and screen-printing processes. She is currently selling her work at Liberty of London as part of a Crafts Council collaboration. Abeer first exhibited at Southampton City Art Gallery as part of the 2021 exhibition Manifesting the Unseen, which explored the work of contemporary Muslim women artists, and her textiles pieces have since been for sale in our gallery shop.
