Sharon and I started ?Spinster Sister? in year 2000, but you could say we started it in 1979: When our parents divorced and each took one kid (a decision for which our respective shrinks invoice them till this day), our precious bi-weekly meetings were spent glued to the FM radio cassette player, ready to press ?record? whenever a Culture Club, Billy Idol or Thompson Twins? song came on, singing along to it and to other artists you probably don?t want us to mention even though you secretly know all their song lyrics. Later on, like any responsible older sister, Sharon would introduce me to Ziggy Stardust, Michelle Shocked, Robert Johnson, Daniel Johnston, flirting, and warm beer. When I started discovering music (and life) on my own, our tastes and stage personalities became more diverged. In our band, Sharon is the rocking and bluesy one. She?s responsible for all the groove on stage. This also entails playing all the instruments. I am generally responsible for hand gesticulations and for talking about how we should have more jazz and latex. She?s the Jagger to my Morrisson, the Joan Jett to my Julie Andrews, the paper coffee filter to my aluminium sandwich wrapper. She?s Sister Swamp and I?m Sister Chain, and together we?re Spinster Sister.

Joining our sisterhood in Cafe 9 is Edinburgh?s darling Polly MacLean with her magical spoken and sung word.
