Writer of some of the biggest indie hits of the 90's, Mark Morriss is a singer songwriter who famously made his name fronting indie outfit The Bluetones. He played in the four piece over a successful and fruitful 15 year period, scoring 14 top ten singles and 3 top ten albums.
Mark released his debut solo album, ?Memory Muscle?, in May 2008. A folk-tinged record that has more in common with the West Coast '70s country-rock of Love and Neil Young than the jangly guitar sound of his indie days, it still contains the same sweet whimsical melodies and gentle Home Counties-accented vocals he's renowned for but here backed by Nashville-tinged acoustics and shuffling folk rhythms. A subtle change in direction that suits his dark dry wit and increasingly world-weary vocals down to the ground.
Since that time, he has released three further well -received solo albums and has also recorded the theme music for the audio versions of all the children's books written by David Walliams. A very busy musician, Mark has collaborated with Matt Berry and the Maypoles, Mike Wilton, and The Helicopter Of The Holy Ghost on tours and on record. But he still finds time to regularly play solo acoustic shows across the UK.
As a live performer Mark blends songs from his extensive back catalogue with stories of his time on the road, providing an entertaining show that prides itself on never being the same twice. His style combines a serious love of music and song, tempered with amity and jocularity. It makes for a set of easy-going acoustic songs and a camaraderie that brings a warmth to everyone in the audience.
