A beautiful intimate evening of songs and stories from Xtra Mile Recording artists, Guise and Hannah Rose Platt, at Bristol's 'To The Moon'
GUISE
GUISE is the voice and heart of Jessica Guise. Possessed of a remarkable folk lilt, she sings with delicacy whilst imparting dry wit and vicious asides. After the success of their first EP, ?The Fun Part?, in 2020, Guise released their first studio album
?Youngest Daughter? on Xtra Mile, produced by Jess? husband, Frank Turner.
Reaching number 18 in the Official Folk Chart, the album received rave reviews; ?a staggering debut from Guise who are surely going to take over the indie-folk scene? (Vinyl Chapters). Building up her live profile supporting the likes of Richard
Thompson, Jon Boden, and Will Varley, Guise is an entertainer at heart and her openness, vulnerability and sense of humour set her apart.
?An album of sublime beauty?
- Fatea Magazine
?Her voice will pull you in, you can?t help it, and the craftsmanship of the lyrics and song writing will grab your attention?
- Scene Sussex
"Jess?s folk songs are soft and gentle, and her voice is reminiscent of many great female vocalists, but she provides a unique and original sound, and it should not be too long before she headlines gigs like this."
- Music Mafia
?Beautifully constructed, highly listenable songs?
- At The Barrier
?The tracks flow and ripple with an elegant precision, swinging and swaying
through woven elements of jazz, folk and universally-penetrable pop.?

The men and women that are sung about on Deathbed Confessions serve to highlight the talent Hannah Rose Platt to has to tell a tale that haunts, while still having the kind of appeal that keeps one coming back, not just for the thrill of the tale but the unbridled excitement of listening to a woman who knows how to craft music to create lasting memories. ? For Folk?s Sake

?Platt establishes herself as the consummate storyteller with an album of poetic ghost stories full of pulp noir and macabre mystery...a literary approach as subtle as a scalpel in a surgeon's gloved hand?? Americana UK
