The Seven Last Words from the Cross, first performed in Holy Week in Cadiz in 1787, is undoubtedly one of Haydn's masterpieces and established his European reputation. In eight quartet movements, interspersed with Christ's last words (..."I thirst", "It is finished"...), it is music of exquisite calm, mystery, tragedy, leading to the astonishing final earthquake. Don't miss this unique Passiontide experience performed by the outstanding Consone Quartet, recent BBC New Generation Artists. Advance discount offer, saving £2 on each ticket, is valid until 28 February.
