The Best Band In The World (yes they really are !) are Martin on electric guitar, whistling and posters, Shaun on stand up bass, contracts and accounts (!), Mike on frontman duties and mic?s. We hail from Walkley/Hillsboroughish - and you can often catch us playing at The Cobden View on a Thursday night with Steve, Steve, Rhodri, James, John, Phil, Paul, Ken, Cathy and Gaynor plus other friends we still keep in touch with but who have moved on. We play high energy early Rockabilly and rock and roll covers plus a few originals.
On The Back Porch are fronted by Issy and Bob with Shaun on double bass. Issy and Bob have been playing guitar and singing gorgeous harmonies to a very wide range of mostly up beat dancey Americana, Country, Bluegrass, Western Swing songs with a healthy smattering of sad songs (which we love !) thrown in with heartfelt and clever lyrics and one or two originals. They have lived in Sheffield for many years and are very widely known in UK bluegrass, old time and americana/country folk end of country & western music scene. They have both performed at numerous festivals and always have a ready smile for everyone - they are fabulous.
Neepsend Big Night Out 1/2/25 is Sheffield?s premier variety entertainment night out in the Kelham area of lower Sheffield in 2025. We aim to provide a very welcoming, kind and friendly professionally DIY amateurish and hopefully amusing (?!) night out which everyone feels involved in with along with some fabulous music, beer, socialising and dancing (yes dancing from about 10 pm till 11 pm - so bring you crepe soles and spangley leotards). We hope you will tell everyone, bring all your friends and have a fabulous evening regardless of whether you know band members or other helpers/hosts or nobody - ALL welcome ! Oh - that brings me to our fabulous, generous and friendly hosts Marion and family from The Forest Pub Rutland Road, Neepsend, Sheffield S3 9PA (on the edge of Kelham island). Marion and husband run the Toolmakers brewery at 6-8 Botsford Street, Sheffield, S3 9PF (please google website) making a rang of exceptional and favourably priced beer which will be on sale at the permanent bar in their excellent 120 seater (small tables) ?village dance hall? with stage, PA and lighting and fully functional toilets. Tickets only £6 each !! All proceeds go to performers and helpers and expenses. We hope to do more Neepsend Big Nights Out in 2025 but that will depend on how well this 1st one goes (no pressure!).

Toolmakers Brewery, situated on Botsford Street in Neepsend, stands as a testament to Sheffield's industrial heritage, reimagined as a vibrant cultural asset. What was once a factory floor for toolmaking has evolved into a dynamic hub, dedicated to the shared experience of live performance and community gathering, fostering a distinct local identity within the city's creative landscape.
Within its long, industrial shell, the atmosphere is one of authentic, unpretentious character. The scent of malt and hops often hangs in the air, a subtle reminder of its brewing heart, while the rough, worn floor beneath speaks to years of activity. The space is thoughtfully arranged, with a dedicated stage at one end and a bar at the other, creating an intimate yet expansive setting for engagement.
As a working brewery, a rotating selection of house-brewed ales, stouts, and lagers are consistently available, showcasing the craft and dedication of its founders. While lacking an expansive outdoor area, the focus remains firmly on the interior experience and the quality of its offerings.
The venue regularly hosts a diverse programme of events, from spirited live music performances spanning rock, reggae, jazz, and blues, to engaging comedy nights. It also provides a platform for emerging talent through its popular open mic sessions, ensuring a continuous flow of artistic expression throughout the week.
