We're very pleased to welcome back Ruthie Smith leading an evening that was described by one audience member as 'her gig of the year.'
Celebrating musical friends and genres, and a variety of soulful jazzy styles including original material, mainstream and bebop, softer moods of cool jazz, blues, South African Township and joyful uplifting Latin-Jazz plus accapella and mantras.
Ruthie Smith, saxophonist and vocalist and founder member of the Guest Stars toured and recorded with various bands including The Stepney Sisters, The Guest Stars, Toot Sweet, District Six and various other ensembles. More recently she recorded an album of sacred mantras.
She is also renowned in a different world as a psychotherapist but after a gig with the Guest Stars at Kings Place a couple of years ago, Ruthie was fired up to bring more live music back into her life.
