Description

Tom Stringer is a rising jazz trumpeter, composer, and arranger based in London, currently in his third year at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.

Drawing inspiration from the expressive trumpet styles of Booker Little and Wynton Marsalis, as well as the compositional brilliance of Thelonious Monk, Kenny Wheeler, and Duke Ellington, Tom is developing a distinctive voice in both his improvisation and compositions, while under the mentorship of esteemed musicians Byron Wallen, Steve Fishwick, and Laura Jurd.

Tom is excited to debut his new septet at Map Studio Cafe, a project deeply influenced by the Wynton Marsalis Septet. The ensemble pays homage to jazz traditions while pushing forward with a fresh, original sound.

Already making his mark on the London jazz scene, Tom has performed at prestigious venues such as Pizza Express Live Jazz Club and Vortex Jazz Club with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra (NYJO) and other big bands. He has also been a featured artist at the EFG London Jazz Festival for two consecutive years. Internationally, he joined NYJO in Berlin for the Young Euro Classic Festival in August 2024.
