With 3 critically acclaimed albums to their name, Irish metal veterans Darkest Era have performed their unique style of doom laden, dark heavy metal all over the UK, Europe and beyond. This will be a special one off evening where the band reinterpret songs from their discography through the lens of their less obvious influences. Featuring semi-acoustic performances with live strings accompaniment, they will take cues from neo-folk to Nick Cave, Tom Waits to Dead Can Dance and everywhere in between.

The Duncairn stands as a pivotal cultural asset in North Belfast, a dedicated arts and culture venue that has significantly shaped the local landscape since its establishment in 2014. Operating as a social economy project of the 174 Trust, it provides an essential platform for both local and international artists and musicians, fostering creative expression and community engagement.
Within its walls, the atmosphere is one of considered reverence, a legacy of its origins as a High Victorian Gothic church built in the 1860s. The air carries a subtle scent of aged timber, while the soft light filtering through three original stained-glass windows illuminates one of Europe's rare pine-clad beam ceilings, contributing to the venue's acclaimed acoustics and distinctive character.
Practical considerations are well-addressed, with the building offering full wheelchair accessibility, including automated doors and step-free access to the ground floor café area. A lift provides access to the first-floor performance space, and two dedicated disabled parking spots are available on site. The on-site café provides freshly prepared food and coffee, and a community garden offers a tranquil outdoor space.
The Duncairn’s programming is broad, encompassing a regular schedule of music concerts, drama performances, debates, and exhibitions. It is particularly known for its commitment to live folk, acoustic, and traditional Irish music, alongside world music, jazz, and soul. A diverse array of workshops and masterclasses, from photography to instrument making and Irish language, further solidifies its role as a dynamic hub for cultural learning and artistic development.
