Join us for an unforgettable night of laughter, live music and trivia; all whilst raising vital funds for The Song School Fund.
The Song School Fund provides equal access to music education for all young people, regardless of their situation. We provide free class places, plus studio spaces and accessible equipment to all of our community. Under the backdrop of the continuing rising costs, we are funding more and more children and young people from low-income backgrounds to join the TSS community and thrive in our unque community environment.
Join us for an evening of trivia, music from the kids and (of course) a raffle! Teams can be between 2-8 people (the sweet spot is 6!). And we can always pair you up with others to make a bigger team, if you want us to.
Grown-up humour expected, so bring kids at your own risk!

The Royal Hotel, a Grade II listed edifice on Southend-on-Sea's High Street, stands as a testament to the town's Georgian origins and enduring social life. Built in 1791, it was instrumental in establishing Southend as a fashionable resort, a legacy it continues today as a vibrant hub for local gatherings and regional events. Its very existence is a triumph of community spirit, having been saved from demolition in the 1970s through public outcry and the support of figures like Sir John Betjeman.
Within its historic walls, a sophisticated atmosphere prevails. The ground floor cocktail bar and lounge exude a relaxed charm, where the subtle scent of aged spirits might mingle with the murmur of conversation. Ascend to the first-floor ballroom, and the grandeur of its high ceilings and period décor becomes apparent, offering a refined setting for dining with views across the Thames Estuary.
The venue spans three distinct floors, offering a versatile experience. The ground floor provides a welcoming space for drinks and meals, while the first-floor ballroom hosts an elegant restaurant. Below, Dr Legba's Emporium of Cocktails and Curiosities offers a more intimate, speakeasy-style bar. Patrons can enjoy a wide array of cocktails, craft beers, and a menu featuring freshly prepared lunches and dinners. It is important to note that, due to the building's historic layout, wheelchair access is currently unavailable.
Throughout the year, The Royal Hotel curates a diverse programme of events, solidifying its role beyond a mere commercial enterprise. These range from engaging quiz nights and interactive comedy dinners to live music performances and creative art sessions, drawing in both local residents and visitors seeking quality entertainment and a sense of shared experience.
