Join us at Jamboree to celebrate a night a la Colombiana, full of Latin music and global sounds - proper Colombian Christmas Extravaganza! The talented singer-songwriter Ang?lica L?pez, from Cartagena, will bring the grace, charisma and diverse rhythms of her country and wider Latin America through her powerful fusion of Afro-Colombian rhythms!
Tonight Angelica goes back to the roots of a traditional combo with a modern Cumbia Flow-style show, recreating her origins and London vibes with the first papayera band born in the UK, with the sounds of traditional Caribbean music and the pacific Colombian coast - folklore full of gaitas (kuisi), maracas and drums! It will bring the original colours of bullerengue, tambora, mapale y traditional Cumbia rhythms, alongside the accordion sound of BBC Radio 3 World Routes Academy 2012 prot?g?e Hernando Arias.
One of the most recognizable artists in London, Angelica? has toured Latin America, the UK, Europe, Asia and Africa and played with renowned international artists such as Willie Colon & Rey Ruiz, collaborated with Colombian music royalty Herencia de Timbiqu?, Fruko and Mayte Montero (gaita player for Carlos Vives), and enjoying recording success with her debut solo album 'Madremonte' and latest LP 'Verano'. She has also released a Latin tribute song to Edith Piaf.
More special guests are to be announced. You are welcome to bring your Caribbean hat, Valderrama t-shirt, poncho, carriel or mochila to join the novena Christmas celebration in Colombian style!
The night is hosted by Carlitos Nino from Colombia. With accompanying on-screen visuals,. Carlitos's decks will bring the original sounds of alternative Latin music and modern rhythms and the past and present of Colombian folklore, Afro-latin music, chucu-chucu and a connection to Cartagena nights of parranda, gaitas y tambores and Latin American music with a global twist!
Jamboree food option: Our ?Zer? kitchen is open from 5pm serving delicious Middle Eastern fusion food for you to enjoy a pre-gig meal/snack if you wish!
Jamboree is a grass-roots world music venue and bar hosting Folk, Blues, Americana, Celtic, Mediterranean, Eastern, European, GypsyPunk and Old Time Jazz!
Jamboree is back with a POP-UP adventure in a different venue in Limehouse from December 1st!
