The NLJC is a community of the UK?s finest jazz musicians who?s collective output explores all things from swing, bebop, trad and manouche jazz, to more contemporary and experimental stylings. The collective's members play regularly at the UK's top venues such as Ronnie Scotts, Soho Pizza Express, 606, Vortex etc; at major festivals both in UK (eg. London Jazz Festival and Love Supreme Festival) as well as touring extensively in Europe and elsewhere. Members have received recognition such as BBC Young Jazz musician of the Year, Arts Council Grants, and other awards for performances and recordings.
This special gig at the Green Note sees the collective continue their collaboration with supremely talented fellow travellers from overseas. Co-founder of the NLJC, London drummer Robbie Ellison teams up with Yur Yesli, the Montreal-based Algerian guitarist, and Leighton Harrell, a first-call bass player from New York City currently playing in Jeremy Pelt's band among others. Expect swinging grooves, pretty chords, elegant melodies, and big vibes!
Green Note was founded by two friends and passionate music lovers who wanted to create their ideal place to hang out in London...
Our dream was to create a place where we could share music that we loved – somewhere with a laid back, intimate and friendly atmosphere. Becoming friends in our school days, the seed for our idea was planted many years ago. After lots of hard work, many ups and downs, and learning more than we ever could have imagined along the way, our dream became a reality when Green Note opened its doors in the Summer of 2005. Now in our fourteenth year, we have established a reputation as one of London’s best spots for roots, world and acoustic music, and we’re constantly astonished by the wealth of incredible musicians who grace our stage. We’re really proud of what we have created, and happy to be able to share it with you.
