Yvonne Lyon and Boo Hewerdine’s collaboration Things Found in Books
is an album of songs written in response to a notice board in Culzean
Castle’s second-hand bookshop littered with things that have dropped
out of books.
Letters, notes, bacon (yes!), photographs, old receipts, postcards,
fragments of people’s lives which has been lovingly collected and kept
on a board on the wall amongst the bookshelves.
Boo and Yvonne have formed an inimitable songwriting partnership
weaving these ephemeral stories with their own, creating an album full of
nostalgia and beauty, hope and longing.
Boo Hewerdine is an acclaimed award-winning English singer-
songwriter now living and working in Glasgow. Eddi Reader enjoyed
international success with the hit single Patience of Angels (written by
Boo) in 1995.
Yvonne Lyon is among the UK’s brightest and best singer songwriters.
Her most recent album Growing Wild is her tenth sol studio album
release. Yvonne consistently combines poignant lyrics with strong,
creative melodies demonstrating a voice that can be both fragile and
intense. She has guested on to live sessions with Bob Harris on BBC
Radio 2 and recently completed a master’s degree in Songwriting and
Performance from the University of West Scotland.

The iconic and legendary Water Rats has re-opened under new ownership and new management.
The venue has a prestigious history including Bob Dylan's first UK gig in 1962, The Pogues first gig in 1982 and Oasis' first London gig in 1994, along with a roll call of other household names throughout the years from Katy Perry to The Courteeners to Ra Ra Riot.
The Water Rats has undergone a top to bottom refurbishment.
There is a brand new high end D&B PA system, large stage and proper stage lighting rig.
Full Backline is provided if required: drum kit (minus breakables), bass amp (Hartke stack), 2 x guitar amps (Marshall stack and Fender combo).
The Water Rats is superbly located in what is the increasingly vibey music centre of King's Cross with unmatched transport links for London and beyond.
The venue also now offers great food from its brand new kitchen and a wide selection of drinks.
