Join us for Friday Night Jazz at the Atrium Bar & Restaurant, President Hotel, Russell Square. On 10 April we’re delighted to welcome Alex Clarke, whose latest album Out of the Woods, released in Autumn 2025, has received widespread critical acclaim. The record celebrates the legacy of alto saxophonist Phil Woods, featuring a mix of classic repertoire, lesser-known gems associated with Woods and original compositions. The album is currently being toured extensively throughout 2026 and has further cemented Alex’s reputation as one of the leading voices of her generation.

A finalist in the BBC Young Jazz Musician of the Year 2020, winner of the Rising Star category in the 2019 British Jazz Awards and a three-time Parliamentary Jazz Awards nominee, Alex is recognised as one of the most in-demand saxophonists on the British jazz scene. Rooted firmly in the bebop tradition, her powerful, melodic playing draws inspiration from Phil Woods, Sonny Stitt and Cannonball Adderley. She has performed with Alan Barnes, Alex Garnett and Mark Nightingale, and regularly appears with The Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Orchestra.

For this special evening she’ll be joined by Eric Ford on drums, Soner Ersen on piano and Dave Manington on bass, promising a night of swinging, straight-ahead jazz in an intimate setting.
