There has been a public house on the site of the Vulcan Arms since the middle ages when smuggling was rife and secret tunnels connected the pub to the beach, 100 yards down the road. Today the tunnels are all long gone, and the pub has become a friendly hostelry for both the weary walker and the hungry traveller.
