Brooke Park

Brooke Park stands as a significant civic asset in Derry, a meticulously restored Victorian park that has served the community since 1901. Following a substantial £5.6 million regeneration, it has re-emerged as a vital public space, deeply embedded in the city's social fabric. It is widely regarded as 'the people's park', reflecting its enduring role as a communal gathering point and a cherished urban refuge.

Within its boundaries, the atmosphere shifts from the city's bustle to a serene calm, where the scent of mature trees and cultivated flora permeates the air. The carefully maintained pathways invite unhurried exploration, leading visitors through formal gardens and open green expanses. The subtle hum of conversation from the café, coupled with the soft rustle of leaves, creates a tranquil backdrop for contemplation or connection.

The park's design incorporates formal gardens, expansive lawns, and modern amenities, including a well-appointed café offering refreshments. Accessibility is a key consideration, with paved paths ensuring ease of movement for all visitors, including those using wheelchairs. Its elevated position affords panoramic views across Derry's historic skyline.

Brooke Park regularly hosts a diverse array of community-focused activities and initiatives, from outdoor fitness sessions and horticultural workshops to local cultural celebrations and family-oriented gatherings. These events leverage the park's varied spaces, drawing residents together for shared experiences throughout the year.
