Corn Exchange

Positioned prominently on King's Lynn's historic Tuesday Market Place, the Corn Exchange stands as a vital cultural asset for West Norfolk and beyond. Owned by the Borough Council and managed by Alive West Norfolk, this Grade II listed building, originally dating from 1854, serves as the region's second-largest theatre venue, a true hub for community engagement and artistic expression.

Within its grand Victorian facade, the interior offers an inviting atmosphere where history meets contemporary comfort. The flexible auditorium, capable of seating 738, provides clear sightlines and crisp sound, while the carefully considered lighting casts a warm glow, enhancing the anticipation before a performance. Recent refurbishments, including the addition of two cinema screens, ensure a modern viewing experience within a building steeped in heritage.

Practical considerations are well-addressed, ensuring broad access for all patrons. The venue features a drop curb, automated entrance, and single-level access to wheelchair seating, complemented by accessible toilets and lower service counters. A well-stocked bar opens an hour before performances, offering pre-show refreshments and an efficient interval ordering service, alongside a daytime coffee house.

The programming reflects its role as a comprehensive entertainment destination, encompassing a broad spectrum of events. Audiences can experience everything from touring theatrical productions and live musical performances to stand-up comedy, dance, and family-friendly shows. The venue also hosts a diverse range of cinema screenings, alongside exhibitions and community gatherings, ensuring a dynamic calendar year-round.
