Sherman Theatre

The Sherman Theatre stands as a significant cultural asset in Cardiff's Cathays district, a leading producing theatre in Wales dedicated to fostering brave, high-quality work for both local audiences and the wider UK. It proudly champions Welsh talent, presenting compelling narratives and showcasing the nation's artistic voice on a national stage.

Within its modernised interior, a sense of hushed anticipation often precedes a performance, the air occasionally carrying the faint scent of freshly brewed Welsh coffee from the bustling café bar. The thoughtfully designed spaces, refurbished in the early 2010s, offer a contemporary yet inviting atmosphere, encouraging engagement and reflection.

The venue boasts a comprehensive approach to accessibility, with level access directly into the foyer, assisted sliding doors, and lifts serving all public levels, ensuring a welcoming experience for every visitor. Its popular Café Bar provides a relaxed setting for pre-show drinks, offering a selection of craft ales, wines, and light bites throughout the day and evening.

Throughout the year, the Sherman Theatre presents a diverse programme, ranging from premieres of sharp new plays by Welsh and Wales-based writers in its intimate studio to new interpretations of classic works and spectacular family productions in the main house. It regularly hosts national companies and touring shows encompassing drama, comedy, dance, and music theatre.
