The Old Fruitmarket

The Old Fruitmarket stands as a vital cultural artery within Glasgow's Merchant City, a testament to the city's capacity for reinvention. Once a bustling Victorian marketplace, it has been thoughtfully transformed into a dynamic events hub, forming an integral part of the wider City Halls complex and serving as a key performance space for national orchestras and cultural organisations.

Within its walls, the venue retains a palpable sense of history. The lofty vaulted roof soars above, supported by intricate cast iron columns that still bear the patina of decades, while the original signage around the perimeter offers a visual echo of its mercantile past. The air often hums with anticipation, a blend of the building's enduring character and the energy of contemporary performance.

As a modern venue, it offers comprehensive accessibility, ensuring a welcoming environment for all patrons. Refreshments are readily available, complementing the diverse programming. Its direct adjacency to the City Halls further solidifies its standing as a central point for public gatherings and artistic expression.

Throughout the year, The Old Fruitmarket hosts a broad spectrum of events, from classical and experimental music concerts to vibrant jazz and folk festivals. It regularly stages comedy performances, club nights, and a variety of cultural showcases, reflecting Glasgow's rich and varied artistic landscape.
