Capesthorne Hall

Capesthorne Hall stands as a testament to enduring heritage, its lineage tracing back to Domesday times with the Bromley-Davenport family maintaining continuous stewardship for nearly a millennium. This venerable estate in Siddington, Macclesfield, serves not merely as a private residence but as a significant regional asset, hosting a diverse calendar of events that enrich Cheshire's cultural and social fabric, a role it embraced by opening its doors to the public in 1955 to aid its preservation.

Within its walls, a palpable sense of history permeates the air, from the cool touch of ancient stone floors in the sculpture gallery to the soft, diffused light filtering through centuries-old stained glass. The interiors showcase a remarkable collection of fine art, antique furniture, and intricate tapestries, reflecting generations of discerning taste and a blend of architectural styles, notably Jacobean and Georgian, that speak of evolution and resilience through time.

The Hall is set within 100 acres of meticulously maintained parkland, featuring formal gardens, tranquil lakes, and extensive woodland walks. While the main Hall offers accessible routes and facilities, visitors exploring the expansive grounds should note that some garden paths may be uneven or gravelly. Refreshments are available at the Lakeside Café on public open days.

Throughout the year, Capesthorne Hall hosts a varied programme, from grand wedding celebrations and corporate functions to public shows, classic car rallies, and seasonal fairs. It also provides a setting for more intimate gatherings and workshops, contributing to a vibrant schedule that draws visitors from across the North West and beyond.
