Cherym are a three piece noise pop/punk band from Derry~Londonderry. The band gets their buzz from their punchy vocal melodies, cut-throat riffs and in the past have been compared to bands such as Sheer Mag, The front Bottoms and Milk Teeth.
Formed in college through their love of music in the December of 2016, Cherym have since supported the likes of Canadian Punk band D.O.A, Ex-Stiff Little Fingers Members Henry Cluney & Jim Reilly’s band XSLF and local legends And So I Watch You From Afar.
In March 2018 the band released their first single “Take it Back” which received airplay from BBC Ulsters “Across the Line”, Dublin City FM and BBC Radio 1. The full EP “MouthBreatherz” was released on May 12th and gained a vast amount of plays from stations such as iRadio, TodayFM and Radio 6 Music.
Cherym have toured the lengths and breadths of Ireland, played shows as far as Scotland and have intent to return to the UK in 2019. The girls have played festivals throughout Ireland and beyond such as Foyle Pride Festival, Swell Festival, Stendhal Festival and Book Yer Ane Fest in Dundee. In May 2018 the band were asked to perform at BBC Blackstaff in Belfast along with Girls Names, Joshua Burnside, Kitt Philippa, ROE and And So I Watch You From Afar as part of the BBC’s Biggest Weekend Fringe and in the September the band were nominated for two awards within the Northern Irish Music Prize. One for “Best Oh Yeah Contender” and one for “Best Single.”
“Merging blistering force and tangential riffs with a strong pop-centric sensibility, Cherym’s craft is equal parts explorative and straight-up; fist clenched and tuneful; celebratory and vexed.” - The Thin Air magazine |18 for 18’
