Description

Syston Band is a friendly community 4th section brass band that offers a warm welcome to players of all ages and abilities. We always welcome new members or guest players.

Following a significant improvement in our competition results from 2016 under the direction of MD Chris Banks, our 4th place regional result under the direction of interim MD Gary Smallwood has achieved the band a promotion to the 3rd section in 2019. We are also pleased that Gary has agreed to be our resident MD.

We practice at our premises on Syston Park which we fondly refer to as 'The Band Hut'. Feel free to visit us and join in.

Full band practice: Monday 7.45 - 9.45 pm
Training band: Tuesday 7.30 - 8.30 pm

The band undertakes a number of contests including the Midlands area, Leicester and Oxford contests as well as sometimes taking part in entertainment contesting and the famous Whit Friday Marches in Saddleworth. We also have various summer and Christmas concerts and are proud to take part in the Syston Royal British Legion Remembrance event each year. Around Christmas time you are sure to find us lifting the Christmas spirits playing carols around the local town areas.

Description

Throughout the summer we host a series of Sunday bandstand concerts featuring a wide variety of local concert bands, choirs, jazz bands and classical ensembles.

There is limited seating around the bandstand so please feel free to bring along a picnic chair and blanket.
