Live Performance
Brass Band
We have three bands within the band family - Town Band, Concert Brass and Progress Brass accommodating players of all abilities and in addition, we have a ten piece group, Decibels.
Bedford Town Band, formed in 1894, aims to bring the joy of brass band music to the local community, encourage brass players, entertain the public and help other charities. Our 3 Brass Bands, a Brass Academy and a Ten Piece Brass Ensemble all enable us to provide the opportunity to learn and play at all levels, from complete learner to experienced player competing in national level competitions, and at all levels in between. Each of these groups participate in one or more of over 50 Public performances during each year, giving experience to the players and helping to raise funds for a number of charities.
The Embankment and Mill Meadows are frequently referred to as the Jewel in Bedford's Crown. The river was artificially widened by the Victorians and spanned by the ornate Suspension Bridge, opened in 1888. They created an inland promenade along which modern Bedfordians and visitors alike still love to amble, taking in the riverside views and the dazzling bedding displays of the Embankment Gardens.
