Brass Band
Littleport Brass has been entertaining the public since around 1880 performing all styles of music from a traditional brass band repertoire to arrangements of modern pop' songs, film soundtracks and swing band music.
Today we are a second section band entertaining the public at concerts throughout the year and competing against other brass bands in various competitions.
Ely Cathedral stands as a significant cultural anchor for East Anglia, a national architectural treasure that extends its purpose beyond daily worship to serve as a prominent events hub. This venerable institution upholds a tradition of hospitality, a legacy stretching back to its Benedictine monastic foundations.
Within its monumental Romanesque structure, the vast nave extends, drawing the gaze towards its intricate 19th-century painted ceiling. A cool, ancient stillness pervades the air, occasionally punctuated by the rich resonance of choral performances. The central Octagon, crowned by its distinctive wooden lantern, bathes the space in a diffused, natural light, illuminating the detailed stonework and the impressive scale of its medieval construction.
The Cathedral is set amidst historic monastic buildings, expansive parkland, and open meadows, providing a contemplative external environment. Accessibility is thoughtfully addressed, with much of the ground floor accommodating wheelchair users, supported by ramps and dedicated facilities. For events, comprehensive catering and refreshment services are available, tailored to the specific requirements of each occasion.
As a dynamic venue, Ely Cathedral regularly stages a diverse programme of cultural engagements, encompassing musical concerts, recitals, art installations, and literary events.
