Brass Band
West Yorkshire Brass is a brass band, formed in 1986. Prior to this a number of its members were playing with the West Yorkshire Fire Service Band. However, when that band converted from a brass band to a military band many of the brass players found themselves without a band.
As a result those brass players got together and formed a new band ~ West Yorkshire Brass.
All members of the band come from throughout West Yorkshire. From Todmorden to Leeds ~ Keighley to Wakefield. So West Yorkshire Brass is a fitting name.
Over the years membership of the band has increased purely by word of mouth. Most members of the band are ‘ on the wrong side of 40 ‘ with one member now aged 89, so clearly we are not a youth band! Most of our members have been there, done it and got the T-shirt.
The band plays at a substantial number of concerts each year, throughout West, North and East Yorkshire. We are not a contesting band and are quite happy to rehearse only once a week.
Cliffe Castle Park and Museum was originally the spectacular home of a local Victorian millionaire and textile manufacturer who had links with the family of President Roosevelt. It is now a Museum and Art Gallery surrounded by beautiful parkland with flowerbeds, greenhouses, woodland, animals and birds as well as a superb children's play area.
Cliffe Castle Pavilion Café is open Tuesday to Sunday and Bank Holiday Mondays
Car parking is available free of charge off Spring Gardens Lane, outside Cliffe Castle Museum, and includes disabled parking spaces.
