Live Performance
Brass Band
A fun and friendly band that's all about the music!
Charnock Richard Brass was founded in April 2009 by Gayle Coleman in order to create opportunities for people of all ages to learn to play a brass instrument in a fun and friendly environment.
There are two bands in all; Charnock Richard Training Brass (which caters for beginner players and those up to grade 2 standard), and Charnock Richard Brass, a band aimed at more experienced brass players.
We are very fortunate to have a membership of 50 people, with our youngest member being just six years old and our eldest being 70+!!
Our members are made up of children from local school, curious parents and those who want to just make music.
We perform quite an eclectic repertoire including music from the Beatles, Queen, John Williams and of course the more traditional brass band marches!
Both of the bands are in great demand for concerts and marches and continue to uphold a great reputation within the local and wider community.
As well as our busy musical life the bands also host various social events throughout the year, one of the highlights being our Solo Competition in July.
Just a few minutes out of the Southport centre in Churchtown is Southport's Botanic Gardens.
Originally opened in 1874, these Victorian gardens are bursting with floral splendour and colourful displays.
Winding through the park is the garden’s lake and a multitude of pathways.
There is an aviary, gift shop and café too, so there’s plenty to see and explore.
Concerts take place on the band lawn.
