Dodington Parish Silver Band

Genre

Live Performance
Brass Band

Description

The Band was formed in 1996, the idea being to create a Band for the benefit of the local community. It aimed to enhance and widen the scope of musical opportunities, especially for younger players, within the Parish of Dodington but also throughout the Dodington, Yate & Chipping Sodbury areas.

We have a wide range of ages and musical abilities, including very experienced as well as new and returning players. We find this mix works well and ensures help and encouragement for our younger or less experienced players.

We are based in Yate near Bristol and practice every Tuesday from 7.30pm until 9.30pm.

The band performs a wide range of music including arrangements of musicals, pop-songs and classical pieces as well as more traditional brass band music.

Engagements include concerts at various venues, formal events such as Remembrance Sunday, regular appearances at local community events, and family celebrations, including a 100th birthday!

Village Fayre

Cromhall Flower Show Profile Pic

Description

The Flower Show and Village Fayre is an open show, so entries are always welcome from neighbouring villages and further afield.

There's a category for everyone, including home grown vegetables, fruit and flowers (e.g. from "the brightest flower in my garden" to "an unusual shaped vegetable”), through to home cooking, crafts and even photography.

There's entertainment and a fun dog show for children of all ages.

Try your luck on the raffle and tombola, test your skill at skittles and the coconut shy, or browse the stalls for crafts, books and toys.

Then when you're in need of refreshment, head to the tea tent for delicious sandwiches, cakes and biscuits, enjoy a local brew in the beer tent, or treat yourself to an ice cream.

There's the chance to learn more about Cromhall and its various activities, with information stalls and a display of scouting activities.

The afternoon ends with cup presentations and an auction of flowers and produce.
