Description

The origins of the Enderby Band Organisation can be traced back to 1895 when the Enderby Brass Band was formed. Over the last one hundred and twenty years, the organisation has grown into its current form of five bands encompassing over one hundred musicians of all standards and all ages and it is now one of the largest and well-respected amateur musical groups in the country.

We pride ourselves on our player development programme and are pleased to be able to say that several people who blew their first notes with Enderby, are now enjoying successful musical careers.

The Enderby Band (sometimes referred to as The Senior Band), is the organisation’s premier ensemble and the root from which the Enderby Band Organisation has grown.

The Enderby Wind Band was established in September 2005.
A traditional wind band format, we cater for all wind and brass instruments and our range of players currently includes Clarinets, Flutes and Piccolo, Saxophones, Oboe, Bassoon, Trumpets, Cornets, Horns, Euphonium, Trombones, Tuba and Percusionists.

The concert band was formed in 2008 to provide an alternative band for adult players who started to learn how to play a brass instrument and felt out of place in the junior band.
It also provides an ideal opportunity for former brass players who wish to start playing again and they are not up to the standard required by the Enderby Band or who are not able to commit full time to a contesting band.

Enderby Youth Band has a long and proud history dating back to the 1980’s. The Band is current Musical Director is Trevor Hounsome, who took over the leadership of the Band from Stewart Osgood in July 2004.
Throughout its history, the emphasis has always been on achieving high musical standards….whilst having fun! The Youth Band has often been described as a “musical Youth Club”, and the social side is as important to our youngsters as the playing.

The junior band is the first step for those who want to learn a brass instrument. We will teach you how to play and how to read music and also introduce you to having a great social life within the brass banding world. We have tutors on hand at rehearsals to give individual or small group tuition and who also sitting in during the main practice.
