Brass Bands
Within the Community there is The Skelmanthorpe Band (Yorkshire, 1st Section), The Skelmanthorpe Prospect Band (Yorkshire, 2nd Section), and The Skelmanthorpe Training Band (a Group of fledgling Musicians) supporting around 100 Brass and Percussion Players between the ages of 6 and 86.
With a highly motivated team of Tutors, Volunteers and a successful Training Programme, The Skelmanthorpe Brass Band Community encourages both young people and adults to pick up Brass or Percussion Instruments and learn how to play them.
Formed in 1843, the Skelmanthorpe Band is one of the oldest Brass Bands in the Country.
Bolsover Festival of Brass is one of the leading Brass Band Entertainment Contests of today which for the last three years has produced a live-broadcast around the world to over 25,000 audience as well as its live capacity audience.
The event will commence at 9am running in two halls simultaneously.
There are five sections (Championship, First, Second, Third and Fourth) with 57 competing bands in two halls all performing a twenty minute programme of entertaining music with a featured soloist. The school boasts great facilities for audiences and bands alike. Each band being provided a 30 minute rehearsal room prior to their contest performance.
The event is held all on one level and is very accessible to all.
Catering and bar on site throughout the day and evening.
Tickets are available on the day on the door and are £10 Adult and £8 Concessions (under 16 and over 60). Children under 5 entry free.
